From Anne of Perfect Bound: The lovely ladies at Southern Weddings held a Sex and the City Design Carrie's Wedding. The lucky winner will receive $250 good towards their very own luxury rental from {Bag Borrow or Steal}. To enter, SATC fans had to conceptualize Miss Bradshaw's big day, from the flowers, favors and tables to bridesmaid's dresses, music, food and cocktails. Here are some of my ideas for the ultimate Carrie and Big wedding. What better place than Paris, the spot where Big realized Carrie was the one? At top: Photograph of the Eiffel Tower by Elizabeth Messina Lifestyle. Carrie and Big photography by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue. Carrie wears a Nina Ricci silk-satin dress and shoes with Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière necklace. On Mr. Big: Tom Ford vest with Valentino shirt and trouser. Manolo Blahnik shoe sketch. mad_carrie.jpgCarrie's look for her wedding is what I am calling "Classically Carrie." Carrie will wear a gorgeous {Monique Lhuillier} gown with the most fabulous pair of {Dior} Sandals. This look is perfect for Carrie because it is fufilling her need for fashion and still allows her to stand out and be memorable. Carrie's engagement ring from Big is a classic {Tacori} piece and will be accompanied by a beautiful pave diamond {wedding band}. On her wrist she will wear a series of {diamond bangles} that perfectly accent Carrie's eccentric style. For a splash of color, Carrie will wear gemstone {earrings} with diamond accents. To tie together her entire look she will carry a {Leiber} clutch that is many colors and the definition of style.

Carrie's closest friends will each wear a black dress of their choosing with accessories of their choice.

mad_samantha.jpgSamantha will wear a gorgeous {Marchesa Couture} chiffon gown with a breathtaking pair of {Valentino} peep toe pumps. She will carry a {Christian Louboutin} clutch that adds the perfect amount of style and elegance to her ensemble. For her jewelry, she will wear a pair of diamond in the rough {earrings} with pave accents and a classic gold {Fendi} cuff. These choices are classic and still very trendy and edgy, much like Samantha.

mad_charlotte.jpgCharlotte will wear a {Notte by Marchesa} dress with gold accents. She will wear a fabulous pair of {Christain Louboutin} peep toe sandals and carry a black and gold {Jimmy Choo} purse. For her jewelry she will wear a chic pair of {Fendi} earrings and a beautiful {David Yurman} diamond and gold cuff. This look is classic and conservative just like Charlotte.

mad_miranda.jpgMiranda will wear a dress that is made for her body. She will wear a gorgeous {Emilio Pucci} that is made for her slender body, she will also wear a pair of {Emilio Pucci} pumps with a colorful ribbon bow. She will carry a {Leiber} clutch that is subtle but still very elegant. Her jewelry will be a pale turquoise color and she will wear a gorgeous {ring} and gemstone {earrings}. This look perfectly compliments Miranda and higrhlights her gorgeous skin tone and hair color.

mad_satc.jpgThe flowers and decor will be shades of salmon, coral, orange, pink and red. The color motif gives a romantic, lush and modern feel to this special event. Carrie will carry a {bouquet} of orange and fuschia plumeria flowers, while her bridesmaids would carry a simple {bouquet} of coral and orange roses. The tablescape would be done by {Preston Bailey} in the colors of the event. The table would be gorgeous and communicate the overall feel of the wedding which is lush, romantic and modern. There would be a signature orange {martini} served at the reception which continues the color scheme. The wedding would take place at the {Plaza Hotel} and Carrie and Big would exit into the New York {skyline} after their special event was over.

michellemathias.pngTwo words to describe the Carries wedding would be simple yet elegant. Carrie would be married on a warm summer evening in New York City, possibly at Plaza Hotel. Surrounded by only her dearest friends and closest family. Carrie would want her girls to be beautiful and relaxed in their attire they would get to choose anything from Chanel. The sweet and intimate ceremony would be followed by a dinner by candlelight. The table décor would just be simple and beautiful candles. The main color of the event would have to be Royal blue to match her perfect shoes by Manolo Blahnik, but of course a girl can’t go with out pink! She would splash on the very smooth and creamy Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf. Everything she would need for the special event would fit perfectly into He Miu Miu Matelasse luxe hobo in dusty rose. The sounds that would accompany them would be Michael Buble, his romantic sound would be perfect for this chic and sophisticated night. Cosmopolitans would be complemented French cuisine and the night would finish with champagne and a delicate but tasty cupcake. To remember this forever they would give their guests a bottle of bubbly with bottle designed by them personally. That is how Carrie and Big would live happily ever after.

Entry 5

If I were designing Carrie's wedding, the theme would be "I Love New York". Carrie is such a big fan of New York that her favorite city in the world has to be represented at the reception with beautiful black and white pics of New York framed on the walls (Time Square, Lady Liberty, and Central Park would be among the famous New York cites pictured). And Carrie would have wedding favors like little crystal empire state buildings or red apple candles. Because Carrie is such a chic city gal, I see her wedding colors being crisp, elegant black and white along with big apple red and touches of sassy sex and the city pink! Since Carrie is such a fashionista, the bridesmaids dresses have to be classic little black dresses -- a sweet, full skirted one for Charlotte, a tight, slinky one for Samantha, and a stand out black dress with roses on it for Miranda because she would be the maid of honor. All the girls would probably wear a red apple necklace (like the one Carrie wore in an episode of sex and the city) which Carrie would give to them as a thank you for being part of the wedding party. I see Carrie in a gorgeous black and white wedding dress like the gown Audrey Hepburn wore in Sabrina and of course Carrie's fave Manolo Blahniks in black to match. She should have a touch of color to her veil though by attaching it to a lovely vintage black hat with pink flowers and feathers. Since Carrie is marrying Mr. Big you know she's gonna get a huge rock from him for her engagement ring! To match the bling on her hand Carrie will probably want a gorgeous necklace, maybe like the big beautiful pearl and diamond necklace that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffanys -- A sure favorite movie of Carrie's since its set in New York and the fashion is fab! The flowers of course will be very chic red and black with some sort of bling like the centerpeices made by The Flower Girl. And Carrie's invitations would probably be something like Joceybella's elegant black and white dahlia invitations. The cake would probably be in black and a light pink with a floral sort of design on it to match the invitations. The tables would be covered in black and white fabric with beautiful black and white china and there would be red chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The whole thing would take place somewhere ritzy and very New York like the Plaza and it would be an event to remember!

For Carrie’s evening wedding, the event would be held at 620 Loft and Garden on the top of Rockefeller Plaza. Invitations, place cards, and all paper products would be from Hello! Lucky designs. These letterpress items would feature a peacock feather motif and copperplate type. Overlooking St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the outdoor garden is well manicured and is accompanied by a lovely white interior space.

Inside the space there would be lots of golden yellow lighting. The primary colors for the décor are aubergine, teal, and peacock green. The head table would be covered in a lush purple feather cloth over a patina-green lamour from BBJ linens. Other guest tables would have Eggplant lamour cloths. Centerpieces would be antique birdcages filled with pillar candles and accented with teal and canary-hued florals. Accents of polished and patina-covered copper would appear in the china and additional candleholders around the room. Sheer copper-hued fabric would be draped around the windows and finished with jewel-toned crystal bead tie-backs. There would be large, clear glass bulbs strung across the doorway to the garden.

Outside would be copper lanterns decorated with jewel-toned crystals. There will be tented seating areas featuring the jewel colors. Seating consists of banquettes covered in pillows. These pillows will be both solid in color with copper cording and printed in a Moroccan style. The tables in these areas would be dark mahogany and mirror topped. To decorate said tables, there will be clusters of richly hued pillar candles giving off a soft glow. For entertainment there will be an orchestra playing big-band music.

Carrie will wear a platinum Jenny Lee gown and teal Manolo’s. She would not wear a necklace, but would wear diamond earrings in the shape of a flower. Her hair is up in an oversized bun accented with a gray feather. Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha will wear a dress of their choice in a jewel tone. The flowers for the bouquet would all be in shades of deep purple and blue (hellebores, clematis, gladiolus, forget-me-nots, sweet peas, and violets). Her round bouquet would be tied with teal ribbon.

The guests will dine on French cusine (Muscles, Coq Au Vin, Steak au poivre) and drink wine. Other bar-options will include bellinis, martinis, and a signature fresh blackberry gin fizz. The Italian cream cake will be covered in ivory butter cream. The cake will be accented with copper wire curls strung with aubergine, teal, and peacock green crystals. There will be an open bar, culminating with a champagne toast in the garden at midnight. Carrie and Big will make their get-away in Big’s famous Town Car. Guests will receive books of well-known love poems as favors, stuffed with a sterling silver bookmark.

Entry 3

WOW!  Check out this stunning and extremely  well-thought-out entry from Stephanie:

Carrie would shine like the top of the Chrysler building!! There would be a slight chill in the air like the episode that was dedicated to the great city of NY after 9-11.

DETAILS:
steph2.jpgBACHELORETTE PARTY--  CARRIE-"wing" dress with metallic embroidery from Alexander McQueen (NET-A-PORTER)
Ladies would paint the town and hit up  hot new places like the kitschy Rusty Knot and not forget the old by hitting up the Russian Samovar founded by Mikhail Baryshnikov.  -Aleksandr is still in Paris, right?
CEREMONY-- would say their vows on a private double decker tour bus with wedding party and Carrie's picture on the side
DRESS- J. Mendel scalloped organza dress (New York Magazine Weddings). Scallop motif would also be seen in bridesmaids accessories!
SHOES-- Prada beautiful architectural deco pumps with crystals  (Neiman Marcus)
EARRINGS-- Unique like this Renee Lewis pair (Barneys NY)
RING - Something old. Ring from estate sale--(Doyle and Doyle)
HANDBAG--"Hope is the thing with feathers. " Ostrich evening bag (Balenciaga)
HAIR-- worn down and "wild" with a bit pulled back with a  beautiful hair accessory from {Jennifer Behr}. Carrie would change into something short and sweet like this white bow waist dress from Dior. (Neiman Marcus)
GUESTBOOK-- Instead  of a guestbook guests would bring a  swatch of fabric from a favourite old frock (one that  was difficult to part with) to write a message with fabric pens. Swatches would be stitched together into a bohemian patchwork of designer labels-- the perfect blanket for a chilly fall night!
FLOWERS-- Something less traditional than calla lilies- isn't Carrie a "Katie" girl and a bit more complicated? (Katie in The Way We Were) Quirky like this bouquet with lady slipper orchids from Artfool (New York Magazine Weddings). Paper/lazer cut flowers and centerpieces would be beautiful.  Paper flower sculpture by Matthew Sporzynski of Couturier de Cardboard Inc.. seen in Real Simple Magazine! Bridesmaids  would wear monochromatic corsages  that would coordinate with their dresses. These women are arbiters of style! Bouquets are fussy and would interfere too much with their amazing handbags!
MUSIC- Full New Orleans styles Jazz band and slightly cheesy dancing at Tavern on the Green.. Jazz rendition of Mancini's Moon River! Some Sinatra as Big tends to like the older stuff.
FOOD- Manchego with marcona almonds and green olives with cocktails (Gourmet Magazine); Lobster cobb salad for brunch; Japanese Shima-aji Ceviche- hearts of Hawaiian peach palm, rhubarb, yuzu citrus, thai basil, jalapeno oil  (Gilt NYC); Crispy Black Sea Bass piperade with chorizo, red bliss potatoes, garlic aioli, saffron mussel broth (Gilt NYC); Mini tarts and  Hot Chocolate Gratin-- with caramelized bananas, coffee kahlua ice cream (Gilt NYC) AND mini Vosges chocolate bars for later--and of course stopping for  pretzels on a carriage ride through the park! It would also be interesting to offer scaled up versions of their favourite take-out Chinese food--Grand Marnier Prawns from Shun Lee Palace for late night nibbles at the Hotel on Rivington
COLOR-- Whites, neutrals with a bit of green (wouldn't interfere with guests ensembles)  and rich reds for edgy downtown party

steph1.jpgTABLES- Dinner at the PLAZA hotel. It would be elegant and theatrical.  Wedgewood "Ethereal" china from the Conran Shop
Tables would consist of white candles, candles, candles from Bergdorf's  and seasonal fall fruit.  3-Dimensional paper sculptures and bird shaped menus by Matthew Sporzynski. Love this private event at the Harvard Club.  Candles, Tables, red flowers, photos of tree branches all from David Stark, Wedgewood "Ethereal" china from the Conran Shop. Trees would mimic the outdoor views of neighboring central park and tavern on the green. Dinner at Plaza followed by a corny but awesome carriage ride to Tavern on the Green. Then Carrie and wedding party would cab it downtown to Bijoux, the lounge below Merkato 55 that is accessed through a “private” door and a service hallway, followed by an edgier party at the Hotel on Rivington.
DRINKS--- Open bar plus signature cocktails...  VIPERA---D’Anjou-pear-and-apple-infused Herradura silver tequila, Yellow Chartreuse, Laird’s applejack (New York Magazine NY Weddings); Traveling Brit - gin/pernod/lime/fresh mint (The Smith restaurant, NY); DIRTY JANE-  vodka martini, no vermouth A splash of the pickle brine makes it ''dirty,'' pickled green tomato (NY Times); GINGER PEG- Freemans- The mix of homemade ginger ale with brandy and orange bitters makes it impossible to drink just one. (NY Mag); COMING UP ROSES for the toast! Rose Water, Rose Syrup, Rose Petals and Champagne. (NY Mag); WINE  from Big's Napa winery!
FAVORS- John Derian collectible decoupage trays and donations to breast cancer research, copies of Carrie's book (Letterpress bookmarks inside of books would state that a donation to breast cancer had been made in each guest's name), John Derian flower circular tray

mosaic4836358.jpg

The second largest private home in America, this 32-bedroom, French-inspired castle sits on 22.1 acres and boasts a formal garden with eight reflecting pools, three fountains, and a marble gazebo—the perfect backdrop for any ceremony. There is a noise ordinance on weekdays so couples generally choose to do their receptions in the glass-enclosed terrace but with a buyout option to takeover the entire castle, late-night racket indoors is perfectly acceptable. (Perfect for a girl like Carrie)

Guests will be treated to spas and messages, given tote bags filled with water bottles, sunscreen, towels, and other items ( Evian Water, Godiva Chocolate, Kinesese products, candles)

Golden Tents, surrounded by water fountains. The chefs prepared the food in a camp style design. Lanterns are the light source. Music will be a light classical tone.

Carrie will wear a dress that is still stylized. A Chette B gown is the perfect statement or the Zac Posen dress in Golden Yellow is beautiful. She’ll put her hair down, a honey suckle woven into her locks. She will be jeweled in an Azaara Three Stone Ring. Also shoed (if it only was a verb) in Louis Vuitton sequin peeped toed heels. ( how can one dress be enough for this diva)

The tables will be surrounded by the center fountain which will have floating red candles placed into the water. The tables will be covered by a satin velvet tablecloth and the table number is calligraphed in white on black which is held by a wine cork.

Here is Alissa's beautiful entry:  "I think there's a balance between an over-the-top extravagant affair and the quiet courthouse. There is a close group of friends at a gorgeous restaurant with a view of the city they love. The best food and drinks are served. Everything is warm, elegant and intimate. And of course, there is a fabulous dress."
