Inspiration Shoot :: An Elegant Picnic
Sometimes it's nice to just dream, isn't it? If every day of my life could be spent at photographer Larissa Cleveland's elegant picnic, I would be one happy weddings editor. Of course, I'd want the sweets catered by Sweet on Cake, florals provided by Michael Daigian Design, and, you know, some paper goods from Hello!Lucky thrown in for good measure (I am a paperaholic, after all). I would also need wedding planner and stylist Shannon Leahy to follow me around, prettifying everything just so. "We've been dreaming about a picnic wedding for quite a while now. A picnic makes us think of childhood summers, intimate conversations, and lazy hikes through the woods. A fancy picnic is a very romantic notion. Going to great lengths to set up a beautiful meal in a gorgeous setting and documenting the moment is how we have come to celebrate weddings and a picnic seems like the ultimate expression of that transience.
Larissa hiked all over the area to find the perfect spot. We needed it to be under an interesting tree that had the right height branch and not be on too much of a hill. A tall order. Shannon discovered a vintage liquor carrying case at the flea market that seemed like the perfect accesory for a formal picnic. We imagined Southsides with fresh lemon juice and mint. Michael's boutonniere was divine intervention -- hand-tied on site from wildflowers he gathered under the tree.
Larissa captured all the details beautifully and we had a blast drinking lavender scented champage in the wilderness!"
