Real D.C. Wedding: Emily + Charlie, Part I

Pink shoes!  Fabulous pink wedding shoes (from Kate Spade, no less!).  (Personally, I think these flirty pumps are really what make Emily + Charlie’s swanky D.C. nuptials, but hey... to each her own!)  I’ll pretend for one minute that I don’t have a certifiable shoe addiction and mention that I also love the welcome splash of fuchsia in the couple’s otherwise neutral color palate.  Amaryllis, Inc. designed the bright peony blooms and A Dominick Events masterminded the details at the stunning Meridian House (love that tree-lined aisle!).  And what do you think of the bride's classic Peter Langner gown?  Special thanks to Jeff Greenough Photographers for sharing this Capital City wedding with us!

How did the two of you meet?  Tell us your story.  We were friends for a couple years before we became mutually single and that was that…
Describe the proposal.  Charlie convinced me we were leaving for vacation a day earlier than we really were, but rather than driving to the airport, he drove me to the Inn at Little Washington where I proposed on the balcony of our room over a bottle of champagne my dad had waiting for us.  Understandably, neither of us recall much of the dinner that followed.
What was the design inspiration for your wedding?  More magazines than I will ever be able to count…
What was your favorite design element of your big day?  We combined contemporary design elements in a traditional setting.  It worked better than either of us ever expected.
Our favorite detail of the wedding was: The flowers wrapped in the linden trees; all creative credit is due to the great execution by our florist.

I LOVE how the ceremony was in the trees, like a forest! Definitely something I would love to do for a wedding one day! It's so intimate!

Aren't the bride's gown and shoes absolutely, positively perfect?! The dress is a Peter Langner (available at Kleinfeld's) and the shoes from Kate Spade. Heaven!!
