Mammoth Reruns :: Kyle Barnes, Part III

Here's what you've all been waiting for....  the reason behind the double wedding.  Read below to hear from both Annie and Callie about the reason behind both ladies tying the knot at the very same moment.  The ceremony took place in the Seaside Interfaith Chapel on a crystal clear July day.  Annie was dressed in a Watters bridal gown and Callie in Priscilla of Boston.  Both looked absolutely stunning as they headed down the aisle.  Special thanks again to Kyle Barnes for sharing this inspiring wedding with us!  Much more to come...

The weather on our wedding day was: Annie: Hot! It was beautifully sunny. In fact, I was down at the beach until a couple hours before the wedding, but it was so hot. Right before the golf cart came to take us to the chapel, Callie and I were standing in the bathrooms fanning ourselves at the Vera Bradley cottage because it was the coolest part of the Inn. We were laughing because we were so hot and nervous!
What was the design inspiration for your wedding? Annie: We wanted to keep the chapel simple since it’s so beautiful as it is. I made a big cross out of willow branches and other random woods to hang in the large window behind the pulpit. We used Callie’s flowers, calla lillis along every other pew, and we used my floating orchids on the table with the unity candles. We had always loved the feel of being outside for our reception, so we had two tents, one for cocktail hour at the front and one for the band and dance floor at the back. The middle had strands of lights overhead so you could look up to the stars above. The big tent had lanterns hanging randomly inside.
Tell us about finding your wedding dress: Annie: I have always known the kind of dress I wanted. I love the Greek and Roman dresses that flow and have simple lines. My friend actually designed my dress. She designs wedding dresses for Watters. My whole family came to Dallas for a weekend to look for dresses, my sister, mom, aunt and grandma. The first place we went was to Watters to look through the hundreds of dresses that had been samples at one point. However, it wasn’t until after trying on dozens of dresses and going back to my friend’s desk that I started looking through dresses that she was still designing. That’s where I found my dress!
Callie: After looking and looking for the “perfect” dress, I remembered a gown I had seen on the Pricilla’s of Boston website. We were leaving Dallas from dress shopping all weekend and I felt like I just had to try this one dress. On the way out of town we made a quick stop into the store. I put the gown on and all it took was one look in the mirror to know that that was the one. I couldn’t have pictured a more perfect wedding dress for myself. I loved it! Describe your wedding flowers: The flowers we chose were very classic. They were all white hydrangea, roses, and mini calla lilies.
Were there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? Annie: Well, we carried on the tradition of a double wedding among sisters on July 19! I think that would be the biggest tradition. Besides that, we had the something borrowed, something blue, something old and something new. Oh, and I don’t want to forget the precious gift from my parents the night before the wedding. My mom gave Callie her ring that was given to her by my dad when she was pregnant with her and she gave me her first wedding ring from my dad and my grandma’s diamond earrings. I want to continue that tradition with my kids.
Callie: The whole wedding was a family tradition. On July 19, 1980, my mom and her sister had a double wedding in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Twenty eight years later my sister Annie and I kept the tradition going by having a double wedding on the same day. Both grooms loved the idea and now we all share this very special day.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? Callie: The most memorable moment for the both of us was seeing each other for the first time in the chapel. I will never forget looking down the aisle and seeing Dylan. Nothing can describe the moment when you see each other for the first time on your wedding day.

On to the reception next!
