Mammoth Reruns :: Kyle Barnes, Part I

Happy Thursday y'all!  Welcome to a very special Epic Rerun from Kyle Barnes (second shot by Mammoth Man Jory Cordy)..  a double wedding!

I know what you're thinking- how does that work? why? and who chose all the details?  We invite you to meet two beautiful sisters: Annie and Callie.  This was a Southern Weddings first and we are still enchanted by this Seaside gem!  So, without further ado, take it away Annie and Callie.  [Editor's note: Annie is the gorgeous brunette bride and Callie is the stunning blonde bride.]

How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story…Annie + Patrick’s story: Patrick and I met at Jenks High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where we both grew up. He’s a year younger than me, so we didn’t know each other well, but we had mutual friends. I would have never thought that we would ever go on a date in high school, much less, get married! However, Facebook brought us together again seven years later!
We had both gone off to different colleges, I had moved away to au pair in France for a year, and we were both in totally different careers in different places. However, while dating another girl who lived in Dallas, in March 2007, Patrick decided to interview for some accounting jobs in Dallas. That relationship faded, but Patrick snagged a great job and moved to Dallas. The problem was, Patrick now didn’t know anyone in Dallas, so he was forced to resort to Facebook to find someone he might possibly know! And this is where I came in! I got this random message on Facebook one day from Patrick Tam asking if I’d like to hang out sometime and catch up on our lives. “Of course!” I said after thinking about the ridiculous relationship that I had just ended. It couldn’t hurt. So after sushi and Starbucks, I was interested. The thing was, he was really interested in me. He had so many questions for me. He wanted to know me. If you’ve read the book, “He’s Not That Into You” and then witnessed the date I went on, you’d be like, “wow, all those guys really weren’t that into me!” Patrick was, and I liked it. Now, I must say, it wasn’t immediate fireworks or anything like that, it took a few dates before we realized our feelings. We were used to dating very different people than each other, so at first, it was weird. After about two months, I knew he was it. I think it took a bit longer for Patrick, but not too long because by that Fall, we were talking about our future together.
Callie +Dylan’s story: Dylan and I met in high school. Dylan was a junior and I was a senior. I needed a date for an upcoming dance and a friend suggested I ask this “fun junior” named Dylan Cope. I don’t know where I got the guts, but I walked up to him one day at lunch and asked him to go with me. I had the time of my life dancing the night away with Dylan and the rest is history. We stayed together through the rest of his high school year and all of college.
Describe the proposal: Let’s hear from Callie first: . Naturally after over four years of dating, we were ready to move on. My senior year in college my family planned a trip to Breckenridge, Colorado for Christmas. Dylan planned on coming with us on this trip and spending Christmas with my family. Christmas happens to be my favorite time of year and many of my friends thought this might be an even more special Christmas. I however thought they were crazy and had no clue what was about to happen. Our trip was wonderful and we spent Christmas Eve at a beautiful restaurant in downtown Breckenridge. After dinner we stepped outside and I saw a horse and carriage waiting in the street. I remember telling my family, “how sweet someone gets to go on a carriage ride on Christmas Eve!” At this point, Dylan told me that it was my carriage ride and this was my Christmas gift from him. Well, I thought how thoughtful this is a great Christmas present. I did think it was a little odd how many pictures my family wanted to take of us. I see why now. Once in the carriage, Dylan told me this story of how lucky he was to find this ride since he waited until that day to schedule the ride to look at all of the lights. I believed every word he said since he is known for being quite the procrastinator. At this point I was a little upset. He waited until the day of to schedule my Christmas gift. Right about the time I was about to give him a hard time for this, I realized that we were on top of the mountain looking out at the town all lit up with lights. We got out of the carriage to take a few pictures and when I turned around, there was Dylan down on one knee. It was a perfect proposal. The setting could not have been more beautiful, I love Christmastime, and my family was there to share this special moment after it was all over. He did a wonderful job!
Now to Annie: The ring was picked out in the very first ring store I had ever entered in Breckinridge, Colorado on vacation over Christmas with the family. That was a crazy vacation since Callie, my sister and Dylan, her boyfriend at the time got engaged Christmas Eve. Jealous much? Yes, I wanted very badly to be getting the ring instead of my little sister, but I was so excited for her! My proposal took a little bit longer…but it finally happened on a snowy night in March. Patrick had a hard time trying to plan the proposal considering all the crying and complaining and pleading I was doing. He wanted it to be a surprise since I love surprises, but I am also one of those really nosy people who have to know everything. So, he did it after I had gone to bed. Patrick came over to my house and lit exactly 89 candles all over my living/dining room that leads to my bedroom. We know the amount of candles because Patrick bought all the small white candles that Yankee Candle had in stock! He spread red rose petals everywhere and had typed out his engagement letter and had it framed. He came in and woke me up out of a deep sleep saying he had to show me something. Of course I was totally confused and unfortunately wearing one of the oldest, holey t-shirts I own passed down from mom! Talk about a hot engagement picture! I felt like I was in a dream walking through all the candles and roses. After he read the proposal and got down on one knee, it took me a minute, and then I immediately said, “Yes!”

More to come from Annie + Patrick and Callie + Dylan!
