The weather: started out overcast and rained a bit, but the clouds cleared and we had a beautiful day.
What was your inspiration for your wedding design? Our venue played a huge role, in addition to a collaboration of both our personalities and ideas. The ceremony was romantic with a classic, vintage feel- an embodiment of the magnificent historical Swan House and gardens. The Grand Overlook Ballroom is modern, and this set the tone for the contemporary feel of our reception.
What colors did you choose for your wedding? Coral, pink, green, yellow in varying shades.
Describe your wedding flowers: Orchids, Calla Lilies and Roses. The bouquets also had some peonies and hydrangeas. Ceremony - Yellow, white, ivory - for a soft romantic feel. Reception - Coral, Orange, pink - more vibrant to fit the mood.
Describe your wedding cake: 5 layer, romantic square cake with a delicate floral pattern.
How did the two of you meet? We met in 2004, at a wedding after- party in Maryland. He struck up a conversation with me, and hasn't left since : )
Describe your engagement: During a trip to Puerto Rico. Rose petals on the bed spelled the question. It was truly a beautiful surprise.
What attracted me to my husband was: His confidence, his humor and his smarts. He is so caring, so selfless, and on top of all this the height and looks? : ) - He was and is a complete package!
What attracted me to my wife was: Her dynamic personality. She has a heart of gold. Did you notice how tall and beautiful she is too? Everything about her..
A date we went on that we’ll always remember: One of our first dates - It was midnight, we were out in New York, got to a restaurant to get breakfast but they weren't going to start serving breakfast till 1 am. We decided to wait the hour, because he really wanted to try their food. When it was time, he didn't even look at the menu and he ordered French toast. The waiter responded that French toast wasn't on the menu. He kept insisting and requesting for the French toast, to no avail, so we of course had to leave. We were so hungry at that point, and I just couldn't believe he hadn't looked at the menu the whole hour we were there to see what was being offered (since he apparently was so picky); then to make matters worse it started to rain as we stood out on the street.
It was a bit crazy initially, but then we wound up in a diner in Jersey city, got a huge order of French toast and laughed it all away.
What was the biggest challenge you had to overcome while planning your wedding? Getting everything done on time and the way it was intended. We went to Nigeria for our traditional wedding at a critical time in the planning process here.
Where there any special family traditions you included in the wedding? Lots of dancing and spraying of money. Also we paid honor to our Nigerian heritage by changing into traditional attire halfway through the reception.
What was your most memorable moment about your wedding day? I have quite a few - but when Chinedu said his written vows to me, my whole being stood still... it was so beautiful. I'll never forget that moment.
Funniest moment? When the MC brought out a surprise performance - a guy who sang Lionel Ritchie’s "all night long" and was doing Michael Jackson dance impersonations. It was a total shock but it was very funny.
Why do you love your husband? I love him because I can't not. He is truly amazing, one in a billion and a special gift from God. He is my perfect balance, and my best friend. What's not to love?
How was your wedding different than the way you’d always imagined it would be? The outpouring of love, the joy of seeing family and friends, everything was perfect, everything was so beautiful .. in that moment, it was real, and so much more than we 'd ever imagined.
Three adjectives that describe the day are: Amazing, Beautiful, Chic.
Did you write your own vows? Yes we did. We also said the traditional vows.
What advice would you give to someone planning their wedding? Enjoy the process, and work towards what you really want as much as possible - so that you will have no regrets afterwards. However, take the time to enjoy each other; wedding planning is stressful, try not to let the wedding overtake your relationship.
What’s next for you and Chinedu? We're just going to enjoy our life together, travel to as many places as possible, keep working hard and building our future and empire! We plan to have kids eventually of course!

The Swan House is such an amazing location, and the colors and style that this couple chose complimented the surroundings so well. Love it.
