Wanwisa Wednesday: Menus 101
For all those Wanwisa Wednesday fans who were wondering what happened to last week's post... We had it set to post and it somehow slipped through the cracks during our launch and travels last week! But here it is and it is well worth the wait.
Welcome back to our eleventh spectacular Wanwisa Wednesday! Wanwisa is the style diva behind the NY office of {Bliss Event Group} and we were thrilled to see her last Saturday night in the Big Apple! (sorry for the crappy iPhone pic here) Be sure to check out her previous posts I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, and X.
You’ve worked so hard on picking out just the right invitations. Your programs are gorgeous and so are your escort cards. One thing remains… the menu! Don’t skimp out on high style when it comes to your menus. Sure you have beautiful linens and divine centerpieces, but what item on the table does everyone really pay attention to? The menu! Uncle Jack may not care what flowers are gloriously adorning your centerpiece but he’ll sure study that menu… so let your menu design shine and make that uncle of yours pause for a brief moment to admire it before he decides he’ll have a stab at that steak.
From square to thin and long the options are limitless. Try a circular menu that fit perfectly atop a plate! {round menus available at Jean M}A unique idea is to accessorize your menus, check out Mr. Boddington Studio’s ribbon top design that matches perfectly with a delicious invitation suite. Speaking of ribbons, why not present your guests with a scroll menu that they can unwrap? Check out Ceci New York’s scroll design and their special segment on ABC. DIY brides should have a peek at Martha’s downloadable menu template available in orange or black – so simple yet stunning! Want a harmonious look? If you had a calligrapher work on your escort cards and table numbers, ask them to design your menu as well. {third down on the left, Laura Hooper Calligraphy} If you love the look of your venue’s menus, ask them to personalize it with your wedding logo/monogram like I did. I love Per Se’s simple book style menu and was very happy they provided these engraved (!) beauties gratis! {photo by David Willems Photography} If your venue is providing you with a simple printed menu, try pasting it into chic enclosures and add a bellyband with your logo/monogram. For a brunch event, I used fun faux bois textured folders and added a colorful bellyband.
Internet savvy brides should visit finestationery.com, invitationconsultants.com and whiteaisle.com for some great ready-to-order menus (some available in letterpress).
Until next Wednesday! Xoxo Wanwisa
